Veterinary review & sourcing standards

Dog nutrition is a health topic, so we hold our content to a higher bar.

Where our information comes from

WoofScore's scoring criteria and our "can dogs eat…" guidance are built on AAFCO ingredient definitions, FDA pet-food guidance and established veterinary-nutrition references. Our toxic-food classifications follow widely accepted veterinary and pet-poison-control sources, including the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center.

Our commitment to veterinary review

We are establishing ongoing review by a licensed veterinarian, and this page will name that reviewer, with their credentials, once in place. Until then we describe our work as "built on AAFCO, FDA and veterinary-nutrition references" rather than "vet-reviewed", so our claims stay accurate. Please treat all content as educational rather than clinical, and consult your own veterinarian about your dog's diet.

Are you a vet?

If you're a licensed veterinarian or veterinary nutritionist interested in reviewing our criteria, we'd love to hear from you: hello@woofscore.com.

Informational only, not veterinary advice. In an emergency, contact your vet or a pet poison helpline.
